About RE/MAX
Dave and Gail Liniger founded RE/MAX in Denver, Colorado in 1973. Upset with the bad name that poorly trained novices and casual part-timers were giving the real estate profession, the Linigers started RE/MAX as a real estate company that would limit itself to hiring only full-time, experienced professionals. They wanted a company where homebuyers and sellers could walk into any office in any market, confident they would receive the level of professional service that a transaction of such magnitude demands.
What began in 1973 as "a pad of paper and a dream" is now a global real estate franchise network that spreads across the world. Along the way, RE/MAX fundamentally changed the way the real estate industry conducts business.
In an industry rife with mergers and acquisitions, RE/MAX is the only major real estate network still owned and directed by its original founders.
The RE/MAX Technology Edge
Throughout its history, RE/MAX has been on the forefront technologically and was one of the first real estate organizations to establish an Internet presence. To help its sales associates become better educated, RE/MAX provides all associates with quality on-line or satellite training. In 2006, RE/MAX updated remax.com to be the industry's first nationwide network of publicly accessible web sites to display all MLS residential homes for sale in the US. Lead Street, the industry's premier real estate lead generation system, available exclusively to its sales associates at no charge, is integrated with remax.com's property search.
The RE/MAX Concept
RE/MAX stands for "real estate maximums". In exchange for paying a management fee and a share of the monthly office overhead, RE/MAX Associates keep the maximum allowed amount of their commissions and receive the many benefits of RE/MAX programs and services.
By offering Associates maximum commissions and maximum career freedom, RE/MAX influenced competitors to re-examine and adjust their own policies toward sales agents, thus dramatically changing the industry.
More than 30 Years Above the Crowd and Now Approaching 140,000 Associates
Since 1973, the RE/MAX network has achieved continuous annual growth. Today, the RE/MAX network is quickly approaching 140,000 associates in over 70 countries and territories on six continents. Young in years but mature in experience, RE/MAX looks ahead to even greater development and success in its next 30 years.
We Are Realtors
When is a real estate agent a REALTOR®? When they are a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® ("NAR"), The Voice for Real Estate®-- the world's largest professional association. The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of NAR and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.
Founded in 1908, NAR has grown from its original nucleus of 120 to today's 720,000 members. NAR is composed REALTORS® who are involved in residential and commercial real estate as brokers, salespeople, property managers, appraisers, counselors and others engaged in all aspects of the real estate industry.
Members belong to one or more of some 1,700 local associations/boards and 54 state and territory associations of REALTORS®. They can join one of our many institutes, societies and councils. Additionally, NAR offers members the opportunity to be active in our appraisal and international real estate specialty sections. REALTORS® are pledged to a strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Working for America's property owners, NAR provides a facility for professional development, research and exchange of information among its members and to the public and government for the purpose of preserving the free enterprise system and the right to own real property.
